Such a wonderful night at the GALAS LGBTQ+ Awards 2024 last night at the Royal Dublin Convention Centre. Although no trophies came to Wicklow, with over 400 nominations, Wicklow Pride were well recognised for their achievements by being shortlisted in not one, but two categories. Chairperson, Patrick Bracken, was shortlisted for the LGBTQ+ Person of the Year Award and Wicklow Pride were shortlisted for the Community Organisation (Volunteer Staff) Award!
It was a fabulous event showcasing an amazing community that have achieved so much, but with many challenges still existing.
I was delighted to get to meet the wonderful David Norris and thank him for all his work on LGBTQ+ rights. Former Senator David Norris was also recognised at the event by being given a Lifetime Achievement Award, a fitting recognition to an a man.
